Beat Stress — Make Love

Making love can be a great way to escape your stresses, however it is not always easy to feel "in the mood" when you are busy, tired and stressed. Sometimes your love life gets shuffled to the back burner, eventually adding to your stress. There are some things that you can do to help manage and reduce stress in your life so you can get back to enjoying the benefits of lovemaking.

1. Exercise

It may seem counterintuitive to say you need to exercise when you have no time or energy to do so. But ironically exercise will increase your energy level and make you better able to handle the stresses throughout your day. Move your body while you watch television or take the stairs rather than the elevator.

2. Eat a Balanced Diet

Not to be confused with dieting, this means eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, protein and whole grains. Eating well helps you feel and look better and increases your energy.

3. Delegate

Get help with household chores, driving, and shopping. Get help (even if you have to hire someone) with those mundane things that drain your energy level.

4. Learn to Say NO

Prioritize and organize yourself. Make commitments carefully, to allow time for your self and for your love life. You do not have to be all things to all people.

5. Learn to Say YES

Say yes to trying new things, to enjoying life, to smiling. Say yes to improving yourself, to being there for the ones you love and say yes to relaxing.

6. Get Enough Sleep

Many of us are chronically sleep deprived and suffer from a chronic lack of energy, which we often try to eat ourselves out of. Instead of reaching for junk food when you are tired, try a power nap.

7. Laugh

Laughter is the best medicine. It can quickly lighten your mood and boost your energy. Find some ways to bring laughter into your life. Even just smiling can help.

8. Relax

Find ways to relax. You might try yoga, learn to meditate or have a massage. Add some form of relaxation to your daily routine.

9. Stay Connected

When you have time with family and friend, be there with them. Focus on the present moment and take a break from the busyness and worries.

10. Take Some Couple Time

Schedule some time for the two of you. Have fun together. Doing what comes naturally is more likely to happen if you create time and space for it.

Yes life is stressful, busy and hectic, but life can also be sweet. When you take care of yourself you will be better able to ride the stress wave, rather than be overwhelmed by it.
